Termites can cause major damage to the structure of your home and can go years without detection. This can significantly devalue your home/property and cause large costs in repairs.
Signs of Termites:
As termites like an environment that is dark, humid and protected they can be hard to find but there are signs of their presence to look out for:
- Papery or hollow sounding timber
- Weakened timber (skirting boards, door jambs and architraves) bumps or pressure against them will easily cause damage.
- Tight fitting doors and hard to open windows
- Termite mud (mud tunnels to provide safe environment and protect food sources) often found behind gyprock or plasterboard, underground or on brick foundations and architraves.
Termite Species:
There are around 360 species of termites in Australia with only a small number of them that cause economic damage to crops, timber and other cellulose based products. Termites are classed into three categories according to their nesting and feeding habits.

- Dry wood Termites
- Damp wood Termites
